FSF Panel Topic 4: Overcoming Self-Doubt

Was there ever a point in your career when you thought you weren’t cut out for it? Rising from homelessness and without a business background, Nary Manivong overcame all odds and his own self-doubt to launch himself as a contemporary women’s designer.

“I’ve been to a point where I wanted to walk away, but not to quit,” said Manivong.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Annabel Tollman, a prominent fashion stylist, journalist and graduate of the prestigious Central St. Martins in London, made the courageous decision to go freelance in 2007 just before the economy took an unprecedented downturn. From working at top tier magazines with celebrities like Scarlett Johansson to carving a name for herself as an independent stylist in the midst of an economic crisis, Annabel found herself doubting her decision and longing for the security and glamour of her previous role.
