Tony Wang, entrepreneur & FSF Scholar, is busy visiting major fashion headquarters in Europe this summer. Check out postfashionism.com for his latest entries, including this recap of a visit to Ralph Lauren:

“Tucked within the rather un-adorned walls of a stone edifice, the Ralph Lauren European headquarters is a villa within the city of Milan. From the outside, you would never know that the building was a host to a wonderfully splendid and beautiful space. From the courtyard in the middle with the polo statue and benches to the wonderful oaken interior design that mimics the ideal home for a Ralph Lauren customer, Ralph Lauren’s visual identity is top of class.

I met with the European merchandiser for all Ralph Lauren womenswear lines and discussed their merchandising strategy. It’s especially interesting to consider how Ralph Lauren is branded and merchandised outside of the United States, where his brand influence isn’t as iconic as it is in the United States. We then visited the Milan flagship store, which is 4 stories tall. The interior decoration is superb and right as I would expect a Ralph Lauren store to be like.”
